在信息时代互联网和电话之类的电信服务打破了空间的限制将人们连接在一起。为了描绘纽约人与世界其他地方的关系，New York Talk Exchange项目提出了以下问题：
纽约人是如何与其他城市联系的？
纽约和哪些城市联系最为紧密，并且这种关系是如何与日俱增的？
其他地方是如何与纽约成为邻居的？
该项目包括了三个可视化成果：全球联络，星球脉搏和全世界在纽约。
